The origin of the NEK606 standard took place in Norway, as a successor to the Recommended Practice for Specification of Cables. From the Norwegian oil and gas industry. With its establishment in Norway, Draka has years of experience and a good track record with cables according to the NEK606.
Since 2009, the NEK606 standard has been used internationally. Used as a technical specification, NEK606 is considered one of the leading standards in offshore.
NEK606 sets minimum requirements for the connections and materials to be used, such as insulation (B or R), inner jacket (F), reinforcement/shielding (O) and outer jacket (U).
