'No more regular VD wire'

Categories: Draka  Sustainability

At Beerepoot Installatietechniek, traditional craftsmanship is of paramount importance. The West Frisian company is critical of, for example, pre-wired pipes and pluggable installation.Yet the installer does not shy away from innovative products, on the contrary. That is why the installer in the new construction project Dahlia Park does not use a regular VD wire, but VD E-LINE.

Dahlia Park is a new construction project of Scholtens Projecten in Winkel in North Holland. In this picturesque village, the developer/contractor is realizing approximately 130 rental and owner-occupied homes, both terraced houses and apartments as well as semi-detached and detached houses. Like many of their projects, Dahlia Park is also sustainable. All homes are natural gas-free and will be equipped with a heat pump and solar panels, among other things.

Many housing buildings

Beerepoot Installatietechniek is commissioned by Scholtens Projecten to realize all electrical installations of the homes.

"Scholtens is one of our regular partners, especially in residential construction," says project manager Jeroen Kruis. "We are currently doing a lot of home installations, about 750 a year. But we are also active in utilities, healthcare and other sectors."

Mostly between Amsterdam and Friesland. In that respect, Dahlia Park is a home game for the installer from Zwaagdijk-Oost.

Draka as preferred supplier

Beerepoot Installatietechniek also likes to work with regular partners on the supplier side.

"Draka has been a preferred supplier for decades. With them I have the guarantee that all wire and cable is easy to process. It is a reliable supplier with good products, favorable prices and excellent service."

Sustainable alternative

When Erik Ringeling, Draka's regional manager, visited the installer, VD E-LINE came up. Kruis did not know this sustainable alternative to standard VD wire.

"But we immediately decided: that's what we're going to do." The installer was supported by his client in choosing a more sustainable cable: "They gave us the opportunity to apply VD E-LINE".

Sustainability together

Ringeling is proud that more and more installation companies are using E-LINE products from Draka. Nevertheless, he hopes that other chain partners, especially clients, will also translate their green ambitions directly into electrical installations. Only then will economies of scale be possible and the prices of innovative cable solutions will become more competitive.

Well strippable

In the meantime, Beerepoot Installatietechniek is very enthusiastic about VD E-LINE. Kruis:

"With wire and cable, stripability is essential for us. VD E-LINE is equivalent to regular VD wire in terms of processing, our technicians are also satisfied. By the way, the margin of error of connections is in correct stripping, so not too long or too short. That's what we're professionals for."

Innovative craftsmanship

The first construction phase of Dahlia Park (49 homes) has recently been completed. In total, Draka supplied 55 km of VD E-LINE for it via ET wholesaler Schuurman. Just like the processing, the delivery also went well, Kruis emphasizes.

"This meets our most important criteria." As far as he is concerned, VD E-LINE will therefore be extended: "There will be no regular VD wire in the next construction phase either," he says firmly.

For Beerepoot Installatietechniek, craftsmanship and innovation go hand in hand.
