Prysmian Netherlands Secures Key Role in €2.3 Billion Enexis Netbeheer Power Grid Expansion

Delft, 25th September 2024 – Prysmian Netherlands is proud to announce that it has been awarded a significant portion of the tender as part of Enexis Netbeheer's ambitious €2.3 billion investment to expand and reinforce the electricity grid across the Dutch provinces of Groningen, Drenthe, Overijssel, Brabant, and Limburg. This project, initially planned for 8 years but with the possibility of extension up to 12 years, is crucial for meeting the demands of the Netherlands' rapidly evolving energy landscape and marks a major step forward in the nation’s energy transition.

The project will see the installation of over 76,000 kilometres of new power cables, with approximately 40,000 kilometres dedicated to medium-voltage cables and more than 36,000 kilometres for low-voltage cables. These new installations are necessary to support the growing capacity of renewable energy sources, such as solar and wind, as well as the increasing electrification of homes, businesses, and industries.

Through this alliance, Prysmian will provide a substantial supply of medium and low voltage cables, while also embracing a commitment to sustainability. The company is focused on incorporating more sustainable materials into its products, increasing the use of recycled content, and minimizing CO2 emissions during production and transport.

This partnership plays a crucial role in enhancing the reliability and resilience of the electricity network, facilitating essential upgrades needed for the nation’s energy transition.
