Prysmian Netherlands achieves EV transport results for 2025 and sets ambition for 2026
Prysmian Netherlands has taken a new step in emission-free logistics in 2025. A total of 6,800 tonnes of cables were delivered to customers with electric trucks. This means that EV transport has been further scaled up as a structural part of the logistics chain. The results were achieved in collaboration with two EV transport partners: Oegema for low-voltage cables and Breytner for low- and medium-voltage solutions, including MV ELINE. Together, these transports resulted in a CO₂ reduction of 112,827 kg.
Oegema: two full-time EV trucks for low-voltage cables
Most of the electric transport in 2025 was realized with Oegema. With two EV trucks operating full-time, 105,827 kg of CO₂ emissions were saved in 2025. This EV current mainly concerns Draka low-voltage cables.
The use of two electric trucks makes it possible to use EV transport not as an exception, but as a standard solution within daily deliveries.
"We are taking sustainable logistics to the next level with this structural collaboration. We recently launched our new CO2 dashboard in which we make the impact of electric driving measurable for Prysmian and its customers. In doing so, together we are setting a new standard for emission-free logistics." – Oegema
Breytner: EV transport for MV ELINE
In addition to low voltage, electric transport will also be used in 2025 for low and medium voltage cables from Delft. In collaboration with Breytner, 1400 tons of cable were delivered to customers and project sites. In 2026, this flow will be further scaled up by means of new trucks with a longer range, which will lead to a significant increase in CO₂ reduction.
This power includes MV ELINE: Prysmian's sustainable portfolio of medium-voltage cables with recycled and recyclable materials at their core, developed to reduce environmental impact while providing reliable performance for energy networks, infrastructures and industrial applications.
"We are extremely proud of the collaboration with Prysmian, who pioneered with us from the very beginning of the transition to zero emission transport. Making the transport sector more sustainable is a major challenge, partly because of the limited grid capacity within the Netherlands. To be able to make an emission-free contribution to this is like a circle that comes full circle for us." – Breytner
New target for 2026: 8,000 tonnes of cables electrically
Building on the results of 2025, Prysmian Netherlands is setting a new target for 2026: to transport 8,000 tonnes of cables electrically. This means further scaling up EV capacity and further integrating electric trips into regular transport planning.
"We started our transition to electric transport years ago and remain determined to stay ahead of the curve. The current economic and geopolitical situation confirms that this is the right course." – Stijn Vredevoort, Supply Chain Manager at Prysmian Netherlands
Contribution to Net Zero by 2035
Electric transport is a concrete step within Prysmian's broader sustainability strategy. Prysmian Netherlands thus contributes to its ambition to achieve Net Zero by 2035, among other things by reducing emissions in the logistics chain.
