Challenge in the Installation Industry: Enthusing Young People for Technology!
As an installation industry, we are faced with a challenging task: enthusing young people about technology. At a time when the energy transition requires innovative and efficient work, it is crucial to attract enough talent. How can we ensure that young people choose a profession in installation technology and embrace the vibrant world of electrical engineering?
Skills Masterclass: A Source of Inspiration
Fortunately, events like the Skills Masterclass provide a great opportunity to put the installation industry in the spotlight. Our future electrical engineers, the Toppers of the Skills Netherlands Electrical Engineering competition, share their inspiring story here. They show that electrical engineering is not only fun, but also incredibly educational.
A Day of Growth and Development at Draka Experience Center
On the 26th of February, the participants of the Draka Skills Masterclass experienced a day of growth and development at the Draka Experience Center in Emmen. The activities were diverse and engaging.
The day started with an immersive masterclass that revealed the transformation of copper into precious cables. The enthusiasm was further fuelled by a lively Q&A session with Boaz Poppelier, the winner of WorldSkills 2022, who shared his insights and inspired the participants.
Practical insights were followed by a masterclass 'Fast and Smart Installation' by Hemmink. A tour of the cable factory brought craftsmanship to life, while another masterclass focused on the crucial aspect of installing casting joints – an essential skill in our field.
Collaboration for Success: A Call to the Entire Installation Industry
The challenge of enthusing young people about technology is a task that we, as the installation industry, must take on together. During the Skills Masterclass, it was emphasized that collaboration is essential to achieve this goal. Sharing knowledge and experiences is crucial to build a bridge between the experienced professionals and the new generation.
An exemplary example of this collaboration was the training on 'Fast and Smart Installation' by Hemmink during the Masterclass. Hemmink, as a valued player in the industry, showed how efficiency and innovation go hand in hand. By working together and sharing expertise, we can show young people that installation technology is not just a profession, but a community of passionate professionals who are committed to progress and sustainable technological developments.
These collaborative efforts are crucial to inspire and encourage the next generation of electrical engineering talents. Let's continue to collaborate and invest in the future of our field.
Thank you to everyone who participated and contributed to this Skills Masterclass! Let's continue to invest in the future of installation technology and encourage young people to choose a dynamic and promising field.
