Prysmian plays key role in connecting the Netherlands' largest solar park
Prysmian Netherlands has made a significant contribution to the connection of Solar Park Eekerpolder, the largest solar park in the Netherlands, through the innovative grid connection project Avermieden.
Smart grid connection relieves the regional grid
The Avermieden closed distribution system enables a direct connection to TenneT's high-voltage grid. This will spare Enexis' overloaded medium-voltage grid, which will create room for further sustainability and economic growth in the Northern Netherlands. In addition to the solar park, battery systems and regional companies will also be connected to Avermieden.
Renewable energy without grid congestion
Solar park Eekerpolder will be realized in three phases and will eventually reach a capacity of almost 200 MWp . Thanks to the connection to Avermieden, the generated renewable energy can be fed in without further burdening the regional grid. This breaks through an important barrier: where many projects are delayed due to grid congestion, Eekerpolder can continue.
Prysmian as a partner in the energy transition
Prysmian's cables transport the green electricity from the solar farm and the surrounding wind farm directly to TenneT's high-voltage substation. This underlines Prysmian's role as a global cable supplier that not only supplies large grid operators, but also collaborates with private investors on smart solutions to the challenges of the energy transition.
For this project, Prysmian supplied approximately 24 kilometers of EAYKrvlwd(gv) 127/220kV 1x2000AlMil cables, divided into three circuits of approximately 8 kilometers each. In addition, Prysmian also took care of the installation of the cable connections, including the coupling sleeves and end closures (CFJX-245 and OTC-245-X), and performed the Site Acceptance Test (SAT). With this, Prysmian shows that it does not only supply cables, but offers complete solutions for high-voltage projects.
