OVERVIEW
Prysmian manufactures high-temperature conductors for upgrading existing overhead lines. The conductors are specially designed to solve problems where the construction of new lines encounters obstacles, e.g. because it is difficult to obtain permits or environmental restrictions or simply because there is little land available.
The high-temperature conductors make it possible to upgrade existing pipes and increase the load capacity by 1.5 to 2 times – by replacing only the conductors. For the 'total cost of ownership' definitely a more favorable solution.
The conductors combine Aluminum Clad Invar (a special Fe-Ni alloy, with a very low coefficient of thermal expansion) for the core with a super-heat-resistant Al-Zr alloy for the conductive layer.
