VULT E-LINE

SUSTAINABLE INNOVATION

Reduce Your Carbon Footprint with Draka’s New VULT E-LINE Cable

Draka takes a significant step forward in the sustainability of cables. Starting in July, the most commonly used installation cable will also be available in an environmentally friendly variant. The VULT E-LINE is an ecologically responsible power cable for low-voltage installations. This cable offers the same performance as the regular VULT but with a significantly lower CO2 footprint. The VULT E-LINE is versatile and can be used in building installations, residential construction, and industrial applications. This allows installers to significantly reduce the ecological footprint of their installations.

EXPERIENCE

Game-changer in sustainability.

Crafted from 100% recycled copper and insulated with renewable, plant-based materials instead of fossil fuels, this innovation reduces reliance on finite resources and lowers the carbon footprint of production.

Draka's commitment to eco-friendliness extends beyond the cable itself. The packaging is cardboard without plastic tape, pallets are wrapped with 75% less plastic, and transport to wholesale partners is emission-free. These measures collectively achieve significant CO2 savings, varying by cable type (3G1.5, 5G1.5, 3G2.5, or 5G2.5), with a maximum reduction of 19% according to Draka's calculations. The final reduction will be officially documented in an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD), to be published shortly after the VULT E-LINE launch.

IN PRACTICE

First major housing project will receive more sustainable cable from Draka

Newly built homes must become more sustainable. In addition to ambition and innovative solutions, this also requires close cooperation between construction partners. In the Grasbuurt 2 project, BAM Wonen, Schipper Electrotechniek, Draka and Rexel work together in a unique way to concretise their sustainability ambitions.

What is your experience with Draka E-LINE?

RECYCLED AND BIO-BASED

SUSTAINABLE INGREDIENTS

The sustainable ingredients vary per E-LINE type, but there are a number of main themes that have the greatest impact on reducing the Co2 footprint. For example, biobased and recycled raw materials, local production with renewable energy, sustainable packaging, zero-emission transport to customers, reuse of reels and recyclability of the product are examined.

SERVICES

EcoCable Label

It is currently difficult for installers and specifiers to determine how sustainable a cable product is. There are no specific, certified eco-labels for the cable industry. This slows down the sustainability and CO2 reduction of electrical installations. To meet the growing demand for proof of environmentally friendly products, parent company Prysmian Group has become the first cable manufacturer to develop its own EcoCable label for cabling.
